The beautiful people
I was lucky enough to spend time with a massive group of friends over the weekend in London, before spending the rest of the bank holiday with a friend of mine in Bristol while I waited for the train services to go back to normal. On the sunday night we popped out for drinks and a meal – “let me just get ready,” she said, before lugging an enormous mirror into the living room and getting to work on the makeup (which I’m not entirely sure she needs.) After that it was the hair, but only short deliberations were required. Then the clothes…
“I’ll try a dress first” she said, before slinking off to her room and re-emerging moments later. Think Hepburn. Think Monroe. I had to, at least, try and play it cool though. After scraping my jaw off the floor I managed a very respectable “You look so nice.” I feel like I really could have dialled it up a bit in hindsight, but it landed alright. Some people just have those perfect faces.
