How to Direct a Photoshoot

During a photo shoot, people are going to need plenty of direction. They need to know how the shoot is going to be put together and what is expected of them to get the photographs you and they want. As the photographer and the person seeing the outcome of the images, you need to provide good direction to the people in your shoot.
Make sure your subjects feel comfortable at all times. They will need to be put at ease by you so they look relaxed in their photos. Talk to them and encourage them, as well as telling them exactly what they should be doing. If they are nervous in front of the camera, they will appreciate you telling them what to do.
Give plenty of feedback as well, to ensure your subjects perform well. Tell them that the photos look good and, if they don’t, think of ways to make them look better and to communicate this effectively.
