Post Processing: A fine art
We all know what photography is right? I mean, we can all shove a camera in something’s face and press the photograph button. But sat here on the way down from Dundee I find myself next to, I think, a photography student (and peanut fan) on her Macbook. She is editing her photographs. It is only now that I am starting to understand just how much work goes into the discipline that we call “Photography.” It is, I’m told, an art form – but having been to student photography exhibitions at university I might struggle to agree.
Having said that there is certainly technique in the construction of the images we see; from the framing and positioning of the scene and its subjects all the way through to the subtle changes in gradients and filtering that complete the image after hours of deliberation. She’s now fallen asleep; so it must have taken some effort!
